Sabretooth was originally going to make an appearance in Logan

March 4, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Way back when 20th Century Fox was in early development on Logan, Hugh Jackman asked fans what they would like to see in his X-Men swansong, with the actor subsequently revealing that there was a lot of support for Sabretooth making his return to the big screen.

Liev Schreiber – who played the character in X-Men Origins: Wolverine – later revealed that he’d be keen on returning as Victor Creed, and had been speaking with Jackman about that very possibility, but as we now know it ultimately came to nothing.

Well, it seems that a Sabretooth appearance was on the cards at one point, with screenwriter Scott Frank telling CinemaBlend:

“There was a moment when we were thinking about, as I recall, James Mangold had an idea where when they were on the run, and they go to the gambling town, there may have been at that point they were going to see [Sabertooth] for help. He was going to be there for help. Now that you mention it! I wouldn’t swear to it, but we thought that would have been an interesting thing to do. And then for whatever reason we didn’t do it.”

In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.

Logan reunites Hugh Jackman with The Wolverine director James Mangold and also stars Hugh Jackman, Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, Dafne Keen, Eriq La Salle, Elizabeth Rodriguez and Elise Neal.
