Rumour: Kris Marshall replacing Peter Capaldi in Doctor Who

April 16, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Doctor Who returned to our TV screens last night for Peter Capaldi’s final series as the Doctor [read our review of ‘The Pilot’ here], and if a new report from The Mirror is to be believed, the BBC has already found his replacement.

According to the paper, Kris Marshall – who has long been rumoured as a contender for Capaldi’s successor – has already been cast as the Thirteenth Doctor, and that he will make his debut in the show during the current tenth series, rather than the Christmas Special.

“Kris Marshall has already joined the cast and will regenerate at the end of this series, not in the Christmas special,” claim’s the paper’s ‘source’. “They won’t risk a woman Doctor. They want a David Tennant type.”

Speculation that Marshall could be up for the role of The Doctor first began when it was announced that he was leaving the BBC’s Death in Paradise, with the bookmakers subsequently suspending betting on him after a flurry of backers.
