Matthew Vaughn has already floated around ideas for Kingsman 3, reactions to first act of The Golden Circle arrive

May 5, 2017 by Justin Cook

After treating audience members to the first act of Kingsman: The Golden Circle at a 20th Century Fox footage event in London, director Matthew Vaughn revealed that the upcoming Kingsman: The Secret Service sequel may not be Eggsy and Merlin’s final outing.

During the event, Vaughn took some time out of his busy post-production schedule for The Golden Circle to answer questions about his approach to the Kingsman franchise. When discussing the pre-production process of the sequel, he mentioned how he and co-writer Jane Goldman have already floated around ideas for a Kingsman 3.

The director said, “Weirdly while we were writing Kingsman 2, we were thinking of Kingsman 3 as well, which is odd. We’ve got a big idea for that. This is sort of the bridge and if we can pull this off, we’ll make another one.”

Considering that the first Kingsman was an undisputed hit and that The Golden Circle could be an even bigger one, given strongly positive reactions to the recently released trailer, franchise familiarity and an even more star-studded cast, Kingsman 3 doesn’t sound like such a far-fetched idea.

On The Golden Circle, the director said he’d be finished with editing in about 10-12 weeks, roughly two months before the film hits theaters.

Reactions to the first act of the sequel have been highly positive, so expect big things from the spy action-comedy. Take a look at a few below…

Kingsman: The Secret Service introduced the world to Kingsman – an independent, international intelligence agency operating at the highest level of discretion, whose ultimate goal is to keep the world safe. In Kingsman: The Golden Circle, our heroes face a new challenge. When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, their journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organization in the US called Statesman, dating back to the day they were both founded. In a new adventure that tests their agents’ strength and wits to the limit, these two elite secret organizations band together to defeat a ruthless common enemy, in order to save the world, something that’s becoming a bit of a habit for Eggsy.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle is set for release on September 22nd in the US and September 29th in the UK and features a cast that includes Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, Halle Berry, Elton John, Channing Tatum, Jeff Bridges, Pedro Pascal and Edward Holcroft.
