Jeffrey Dean Morgan teases Flashpoint Batman

July 24, 2017 by Gary Collinson

During the Warner Bros. panel at Comic-Con this past Saturday, we got the rather surprising news that The Flash solo movie is being retooled as Flashpoint, an adaptation of the DC Comics crossover arc from 2011.

If you’re unfamiliar with the story, it sees The Flash waking up in a vastly different timeline: Barry doesn’t have his powers, the Justice League doesn’t exist, and there’s an ongoing war between the Amazons and the Atlanteans. Oh, Bruce Wayne was murdered as a child, prompting Thomas Wayne to become The Batman and Martha Wayne The Joker.

We have of course already seen Thomas and Martha Wayne in the DCEU, played by The Walking Dead co-stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Morgan has wasted no time at all in teasing their possible return for Flashpoint:

At this point, we’ve got no idea what DC has in store for the Flashpoint movie, but you’d have to assume we’ll be seeing alternate versions of several established DC characters, and Morgan has previously stated that he’d jump at the chance to play the Flashpoint version of Batman, so this would definitely seem like a strong possibility. That being said, there’s the small matter of the 45-year gap between their appearance in Batman v Superman and the current DC timeline where Ezra Miller’s Flash exists…

What do you want to see from the Flashpoint movie? Are you exciting about the prospect of seeing Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan as Batman and The Joker? Could this be a way to work in the Red Son Superman? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
