Video Game Review – Kingdoms And Castles

July 20, 2017 by Lewy Buck

Lewy Buck reviews Kingdoms and Castles…

As an avid fan of strategic city builders Kingdoms and Castles looked as if to be a sure fire hit in my books and I was delighted to hear when it smashed it’s crowdfunding goal by 725%. The two man team over at Lion Shield Studios won over the gaming community tenfold and it looked like we would be building our kingdoms and defending our castles in no time. What really caught my eye during it’s campaign over at fig.co were the games bright, simplistic and low poly art style, I’ve played a lot of city builders and none looked to be so easy on the eye as Kingdoms and Castles, one of my favourite city builders Banished can become pretty depressing to look at after a few hours of gameplay so to be able to get my building fix whilst still being able to enjoy the visuals kept me eager and excited to play. Below is my video review for Kingdoms and Castles so be sure to check that out to see some gameplay…

Pros

– Gorgeous low poly art style

– Addictive city builder gameplay

– Fantastic modular castle building system

– Great Music

– Defending your Kingdom is awesome fun

Cons

– No story or endgame

– No tutorials for new players

– Only one model type for each house

Rating – 7/10

In Kingdoms and castles, players grow a tiny village into a thriving medieval city protected by a huge imposing castle. Expand your city and develop your kingdom, forming policies on taxation, farming, industry, religious institutions, and defensive capabilities to ensure its success. Your kingdom must survive in a living and dynamic world full of threats including marauding Vikings, terrible plagues, dragons, harsh winters and much more!

Kingdoms and Castles is available to purchase now through Steam!
