Disney’s live-action Mulan to begin shooting in January 2018

August 27, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Industry tracking site My Entertainment World is reporting that Disney is set to go into production on its live-action Mulan remake in January 2018, with filming set to take place in China, New Zealand and Australia.

The remake of the 1998 animated movie is being directed by Niki Caro (Whale Rider, McFarland, USA), and Disney has said that the film will be culturally authentic, featuring Chinese actors in its lead roles.

In addition to Mulan, Disney is currently shooting its live-action Dumbo under director Tim Burton, with Jon Favreau’s The Lion King and Guy Ritchie’s Aladdin also gearing up to begin production this year.

Mulan is scheduled for release in 2019.
