Rumour: Darth Vader to appear in the Han Solo Star Wars spin-off

September 20, 2017 by Ricky Church

With all the drama surrounding Han Solo’s change of directors, it’s hard to figure out what exactly to expect from the film. According to one source, though, it seems Star Wars‘ iconic villain Darth Vader will be making another appearance in Ron Howard’s Anthology movie.

Per That Hashtag Show, one of their sources close to the film’s production has claimed that roughly two weeks ago someone was on set in Darth Vader’s armour. This is all they could confirm, however, with the actual size of Vader’s potential role left up in the air.

Fans have speculated as to whether or not Vader might appear in Han Solo for a while now. Spencer Wilding, the actor who portrayed Vader physically in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, cancelled a convention appearance a couple months ago and it was reported that was because he had to shoot “the newest film in the Star Wars universe”, though Wilding denied this.

If Vader is in Han Solo, what kind of role do you think he’ll have? Would you prefer a cameo or an extended role as Han suffers his first entanglement with the Empire? Let us know in the comments below…

Han Solo stars Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!) as the famous smuggler, Donald Glover (Atlanta) as Lando Calrissian, Woody Harrelson (War for the Planet of the Apes) as Beckett (Solo’s mentor), Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Thandie Newton (Westworld), Paul Bettany (Avengers: Infinity War), Ian Kenny (Sing Street), and Warwick Davis (Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi) in as-yet-unrevealed roles. It is set for release on May 25th 2018.
