Exclusive Interview: Don Mancini and Fiona Dourif talk Cult of Chucky, keeping the franchise fresh and what to expect from Chucky 8

October 16, 2017 by admin

Out now on Blu-ray and DVD, Cult of Chucky (in the US at least, it’s out Monday 23rd in the UK) is the seventh entry in the long running Child’s Play franchise. During its premiere at London’s FrightFest, Luke Owen was able to sit down with writer/director Don Mancini (who created Child’s Play in 1988 and has been with the franchise every step of the way) and lead star Fiona Dourif (whose father Brad Dourif has voiced Chucky in all seven movies).

The two discuss how Cult of Chucky follows on from Curse of Chucky, Don’s desires to stay true to the franchise, and the plans he has for the next instalment of the series.

Check out the interview below and read Luke Owen’s review here…

Cult of Chucky will catch up with [Nica from Curse of Chucky] at an asylum for the criminally insane where she has been confined for the past four years and is erroneously convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when Nica’s psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic “tool” to facilitate his patients’ group sessions — an all-too-familiar “Good Guy” doll with an innocently smiling face — a string of grisly deaths begins to plague the asylum, and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn’t crazy after all. Andy Barclay, Chucky’s now-grown-up nemesis from the original Child’s Play, races to Nica’s aid. But to save her he’ll have to get past Tiffany, Chucky’s long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll.

Cult of Chucky sees franchise veterans Fiona Dourif (Curse of Chucky), Alex Vincent (Child’s Play) and Jennifer Tilly (Bride of Chucky) be joined once again by Brad Dourif as the voice of Chucky.
