Having been working on the screenplay these past few months, Sylvester Stallone has now taken to Instagram to announce that he’ll be succeeding Ryan Coogler as director of the upcoming Creed sequel.

Stallone does of course have plenty of experience behind the camera on the Rocky franchise, having directed Rocky II, III, IV and Rocky Balboa. The Creed sequel will see him returning to his iconic role alongside Michael B. Jordan as Adonis Creed, while Dolph Lundgren is also confirmed as reprising the role of Ivan Drago from Rocky IV. Filming is expected to get underway early in the New Year.
