First look at Brie Larson in costume as Captain Marvel

January 25, 2018 by Gary Collinson

A couple of days we got a look at Brie Larson preparing to undergo some flight training in preparation for her role as Carol Danvers, and now we’ve got our very first look at the Oscar winner suited up and filming scenes as Captain Marvel. The costume probably isn’t quite how you’d expect it to be, and far removed from the concept art we saw last summer. Take a look at the photos in the link below…

And here’s the original concept art which debuted at Comic-Con…

It had been rumoured that filming on Captain Marvel would begin this month, and both Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders were spotted shooting scenes in Atlanta earlier this week, with Captain Marvel co-director Ryan Fleck on set. Jackson as we know will be reprising his role as Nick Fury for the solo movie, although given that it’s set in the 90s, an appearance from Cobie Smulders’ Maria Hill seems a bit unlikely.

It is of course possible that Captain Marvel will be bookended by scenes set in the present day, before flashing back to the 90s. However, if we had to hazard a guess, this could be a scene (or post-credits scene) from Avengers: Infinity War, where Carol shows up on Earth and meets Nick Fury in the present day after Thanos has defeated Earth’s Mightiest Heroes; we then follow this up with her solo movie exploring the character’s origin (with a more traditional costume), before she gets involved in the fight with the Mad Titan in Avengers 4.

That’s my theory anyway. Let me know yours below…
