Black Lightning executive producer keen on Static appearance

February 3, 2018 by Gary Collinson

The CW launched its latest DC series Black Lightning last month, and while a decision is yet to be made as to whether Cress Williams’ Jefferson Pierce exists as part of the wider Arrowverse, plans are afoot to introduce other superhero characters into the world, with executive producer Salim Akil telling Yahoo! pinpointing Static as one possibility.

“Yeah let’s hope so, we want to entertain,” replied Akil when asked if we’ll be seeing other superheroes entering the show. “I know this show is topical and it has some political merit to it, but we also want to entertain and make people laugh and get them excited about the fight sequences, and the characters that are coming in, as well as the villains that are coming in. We hope it will be a well-rounded experience so yes, we’d love to see other superheroes come through. Static could be interesting.”

The character of Static has made numerous animated appearances, including in his own series Static Shock, while it was announced back in 2014 that Warner Bros. was developing a live-action digital series, with Jaden Smith linked to the role of young Virgin Hawkins. However, as yet, we’re yet to see him appearing in any form of live-action DC project.

Would you like to see Static joining Black Lightning? What are your thoughts on the show so far? Let us know in the comments below…
