Solo: A Star Wars Story’s Tobias Beckett “shapes” Han more than anyone else, according to Ron Howard

February 8, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Ron Howard, director of Solo: A Star Wars Story, has revealed a few details about Woody Harrelson’s character, Tobias Beckett, including his relationship with Han.

Solo: A Star Wars Story at last has a teaser trailer, and a TV spot for that matter, giving fans a great at look at the upcoming film. This week has also seen the release of official images, posters, and some interesting details regarding the film and its characters.

Thanks to a recent feature in Entertainment Weekly, we have learned more from Ron Howard about the new character Tobias Beckett, who can be seen in the trailer recruiting Han for some kind of mission.

”He’s a powerful criminal, but a free agent,” Howard explained. “Tobias Beckett really shapes Han more than anybody, as Han comes to believe that in a lawless time, he needs a moral code.”

That’s certainly an interesting statement. The fact Beckett “shapes” Han suggests a mentor/mentee relationship but the “free agent” element suggests that perhaps his allegiances aren’t entirely where you would expect.

To know for certain, we will just have to wait until May for the film’s much anticipated release.
