Tim Miller and Brian Michael Bendis team for mystery X-Men movie 143

February 13, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Fox has set Deadpool helmer Tim Miller to direct a mystery X-Men movie going by the title 143, which is being scripted by acclaimed comic book writer Brian Michael Bendis.

The movie is shrouded in secrecy, but may well refer to 1981’s Uncanny X-Men #143, which sees the character of Kitty Pryde battling a demon when she is left alone at the X-Mansion on Christmas Eve. Supporting this is rumours from last month, which said that Miller was working on a movie based around Kitty Pryde, played by Ellen Page in X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Miller is currently gearing up to shoot the James Cameron-produced Terminator reboot/sequel, and would presumably move on to the X-Men project once production has wrapped on that.

Despite an impending purchase by Disney, Fox has several X-Men movies in various stages of development, including Gambit, X-Force, Multiple Man, and a rumoured Logan spinoff centred around X-23. The studio also releases Deadpool 2 and X-Men: Dark Phoenix this year, with The New Mutants set to arrive in 2019.

Are you excited about the prospect of a Kitty Pryde movie from Miller and Bendis? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
