Disney and Lucasfilm accused of plagiarism over Solo: A Star Wars Story posters

March 4, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Disney and Lucasfilm finally kicked off the promotional campaign for May’s Anthology movie Solo: A Star Wars Story last month, releasing a first trailer, as well as a series of character posters featuring Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich), Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo), Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover), and Qi’ra (Emilia Clarke).

Well, according to French artist Hacim Bahous, said character posters have been plagiarised from a series of album covers he produced for Sony Music France, with Bahous sharing the following comparison image to Facebook, complete with the caption: “I am flattered that the quality of my work is recognized, but it is still pure and simple forgery, I have not been asked for my permission, I wish to be credited and paid for this work I have done for Sony!”

While the two series of images do appear very similar in terms of design, typography, layout and colour scheme, we’ll let you be the judge…
