Indiana Jones 5 to begin filming April 2019

March 19, 2018 by Ricky Church

With Ready Player One hitting theaters next week, director Steven Spielberg is already beginning to turn his eye to the next film in the Indiana Jones franchise. Appearing at the Empire Awards last night, Spielberg revealed that Indiana Jones 5 will begin production in April 2019 in the UK for its July 20, 2020 release date.

“It’s always worth the trip when I get to work with this deep bench of talent coming out of the UK,” Spielberg said at the ceremony. “The actors, and the crew, the chippies, the sparks, the drivers — everybody who has helped me make my movies here, and will continue helping me make my movies here when I come back in April 2019 to make the fifth Indiana Jones movie right here.”

Harrison Ford will return to his iconic role as archaeologist and adventurer Indiana Jones for the fifth film. Spielberg will re-team with producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshal and screenwriter David Koepp for the film.
