Rumour: Marvel will soon announce an Eternals movie

April 15, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Earlier this month it was rumoured that Marvel Studios is looking to add an Eternals movie to the Phase Four slate of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and now we have another report which seemingly corroborates that.

According to Bleeding Cool, a “very reliable source” has confirmed that Marvel is indeed looking to develop a movie based upon Jack Kirby’s characters and has been meeting with writers about the property. As such, it is expected that the studio will make an official announcement on the project soon.

The Eternals was created by Jack Kirby after he returned to Marvel from a spell at DC Comics, and launched in 1976. An evolutionary offshoot of early life on Earth, the Eternals were created by the Celestials to serve as the defenders of Earth against their evil counterparts the Deviants.

The previous report claimed that Marvel had been convinced to move ahead with Eternals in response to DC’s announcement of a New Gods movie, and that it is being eyed as another cosmic franchise post-Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
