George Clooney reveals that Batman & Robin had the biggest influence on his career

June 6, 2018 by Samuel Brace

George Clooney has revealed that Batman & Robin was the film that had the most influence on his career.

Batman & Robin hasn’t improved with age and it’s still regarded as one of the weakest entries in Batman’s live-action catalogue. George Clooney has never quite been able to live down his performance as Bruce Wayne but this isn’t something that the actor is shying away from.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Clooney says that this particular film has had the biggest influence on his career and was the key in turning his fortunes around: “It’s really easy to pick: Batman & Robin. That’s not a joke. Up until that moment, I was an actor only concerned with finding work. After the failure of that film creatively, I understood that I needed to take control of the films I made, not just the role. My next three films were Out of Sight, Three Kings and O Brother, Where Art Thou?”

As the actor points out, Clooney certainly demonstrated a drastic change in film choice post-Batman & Robin and hasn’t really looked back since. Probably for the best.
