Suspiria remake reduced Quentin Tarantino to tears

July 8, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Luca Guadagnino’s remake of the Dario Argento horror classic Suspiria won over a lot of detractors with the release of its first trailer, and it seems the new movie has one big fan in filmmaker Quentin Tarantino, who was reportedly reduced to tears (in a good way – we hope!) at a private screening.

“We’ve been friends since our jury duty at the Venice Film Festival,” Guadagnino tells Italian outlet La Repubblica (via Dark Horizons) I was nervous but eager to hear his advice. We saw it at his place and his reaction warmed me. He was enthusiastic about it, in the end he was crying and hugged me.”

!”Because it’s a horror movie but also a melodrama, my goal was to make you look at the horror without being able to take [your eyes off the screen] because you’re captivated by the characters,” he continued. “Amazon is very happy.”

Tarantino is currently busy shooting his new movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, while Suspiria is set for release this November.

A darkness swirls at the center of a world-renowned dance company, one that will engulf the troupe’s artistic director, an ambitious young dancer, and a grieving psychotherapist. Some will succumb to the nightmare. Others will finally wake up.

Suspiria is set for release on November 2nd and features a cast that includes Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton, Mia Goth, Jessica Harper and Chloe Grace Moretz.
