Helena Bonham Carter stars in trailer for mental illness drama 55 Steps

Ahead of its digital release next month, Sony Pictures has debuted a new trailer for the upcoming drama 55 Steps. Directed by Bille August, it tells the true story of Eleanor Riese, played by Helena Bonham Carter, a mental illness patient who fought for the right for competent patients to gain the rights to have a say in the medication they are administered while in hospital. The film features a cast that also includes Hilary Swank, Jeffrey Tambor, Tim Plester, Michael Culkin, and Jonathan Kerrigan; watch it here…

55 Steps is based on the inspiring true story of Eleanor Riese, a mental illness patient herself, who brings a class action suit to give competent mental patients the right to have a say in their medication while they’re in a hospital, and Colette Hughes, the lawyer appointed to her case.

55 Steps is set for a digital release on October 16th, followed by a theatrical release on November 16th.
