Rumour: Mad Max: Fury Road sequel may be revving its engine

February 10, 2019 by Gary Collinson

During the lengthy development and production stage on Mad Max: Fury Road, franchise creator George Miller revealed that he’d also devised two further scripts for sequels, entitled Mad Max: Furiosa and Mad Max: The Wasteland.

In the wake of Fury Road’s critical and commercial success, Miller announced his intention to move forward with The Wasteland, but a legal dispute in 2017 between Miller and Warner Bros. over allegedly unpaid bonuses appeared to have put a halt to progress.

Well, if a new rumour is to be believed, we may now be close to a resolution as Fandango’s Erik Davis has stated on Twitter that he’s heard “whispers” that a new Mad Max movie may be starting to “rev its engines”.

So WORLD WAR Z 2 is officially dead and not happening… BUT… I'm hearing whispers of another sequel that's beginning to rev its engines… pic.twitter.com/eFyRkC2kh0

Just a note that I do not have any further details apart from what is above, and, like anything – including WWZ2 – there's always a chance it doesn't happen. But I am hopeful…

Now, we must stress that this is nothing more than a rumour at present – but let’s hope it is one that pans out!
