The Lost Boys TV pilot gets first cast members, will gender-swap the Frog Brothers

February 22, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Last month it was announced that The CW has given the green light to a TV adaptation of Joel Schumacher’s 80s classic The Lost Boys, and now we have our first casting news for the pilot.

Deadline is reporting that Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf) will portray Michael Emerson, who along with his brother Sam and mother Lucy (Kiele Sanchez; Kingdom), move to the seaside town of Santa Carla following the sudden death of their father. The role of Sam is yet to be cast.

In Santa Clara, Michael meets Stella, played by Medalion Rahimi (Still Star-Crossed), a carefree Californian who also happens to be the girlfriend of David (Dakota Shapiro; Valley of the Boom), who just so happens to be the leader of a gang of vampires.

Meanwhile, according to a report from Collider, switching up the name of Star to Stella won’t be the only change from the movie in the Catherine Hardwicke-directed pilot, as The CW is reportedly set to gender swap the vampire-hunting brothers Edgar and Alan Frog. Presumably we’ll have word on casting for Sam and the Frog Sisters soon.

Welcome to sunny seaside Santa Carla, home to a beautiful boardwalk, all the cotton candy you can eat…and a secret underworld of vampires.

After the sudden death of their father, two brothers move to Santa Carla with their mother, who hopes to start anew in the town where she grew up. But the brothers find themselves drawn deeper and deeper into the seductive world of Santa Carla’s eternally beautiful and youthful undead.
