Last week, Disney-Pixar unveiled Purl, the first in a series of animated short films from SparkShorts – an initiative designed to allow artists at the studio to tell their own unique short tales – and now we have the second offering, entitled Smash and Grab.
Directed by Brian Larsen and produced by David Lally, Smash and Grab tells the story of two antiquated robots who risk everything for freedom and for each other after years of toiling away inside the engine room of a towering locomotive.

The third SparkShots film, Kitbull, is set for release on YouTube next week, with a further three – Float, Loop and Wind – set to debut on the Disney+ streaming service.
