Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke to star in Let Me Count the Ways

May 11, 2019 by Gary Collinson

With her role as Daenerys Targaryen coming to an end this month with Game of Thrones‘ final season, Variety is reporting that Emilia Clarke has signed on to star in Let Me Count the Ways, a romance which will tell the true story of the love affair between poet Elizabeth Barrett and playwright Robert Browning.

Bjorn Runge (The Wife) is directing the film, which takes place in the mid-19th century and follows Clarke’s Elizabeth who, having achieved fame and success as a poet, is now living as a virtual recluse and suffering a mysterious illness., However, when playwright Browning comes into her life, it awakens a passion in Barrett which she has previously only ever written about.

“We are thrilled to be able to bring this most compelling of love stories to the world, and to be able to do so with such a talented team of people both in front and behind the camera is a privilege,” said Stephen Kelliher, with fellow producer Damien Jones adding: “This film is a classic love story which delivers something entirely unexpected and relevant in today’s world, and I am excited to be embarking on this journey with an outstanding team of people.”

Clarke can currently be seen on HBO in the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, and has the features Above Suspicion and Last Christmas.
