Kelsey Grammer says six Frasier spinoff concepts are under consideration

May 27, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Last summer it was reported that Kelsey Grammer is looking to put together a spinoff/continuation of the Emmy Award-winning comedy series Frasier, with the star and producer going on to confirm that he was actively meeting with writers in an effort to come up with a suitable concept for the proposed revival.

We’ve heard  little in the way of updates since then, but appearing on the UK talk show Lorraine, Grammer has revealed that the potential series remains very much alive, and they actually have six different concepts under consideration.

“That little folder is filled with six different ideas that are all in contention for what may be the new Frasier,” said Grammer. “A continuation of Frasier. They’re similar, it’s a new life, in a new city. Of course, John Mahoney died so you’d need to replace that energy, perhaps like they did on Cheers with Coach, they found Woody, who had the same kind of sensibility.”

Frasier Crane was last seen leaving Seattle for Chicago in the series finale of the show back in 2004, and while the plan is for the show to focus on a new life in a new city, Grammer has previously confirmed that he “wouldn’t want to do it” without fellow cast members David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves, and Peri Gilpin.
