Black Widow scene in Avengers: Endgame had to be reshot says Jeremy Renner

Jeremy Renner, one of the stars of Avengers: Endgame, has revealed that the emotional Black Widow scene had to be reshot.

There are some truly heart-rending moments throughout Endgame and one of these was certainly the scene where Black Widow perishes to obtain the soul stone. But the scene didn’t always look like it does now.

According to Jeremy Renner when speaking at Celebrity Fan Fest, the scene just wasn’t working in its original form: “We shot that scene two times, in two different ways. We shot that scene maybe…three months ago?

“It felt just a little out of place. We were on the altar, if you will, and a big ship comes in. We get attacked by a bunch of people and we both race to jump off. Then it got reshot and we were just fighting each other to go over.”

One can see why they decided to strip the scene back and not include a further tussle with other assailants. This way the scene is certainly more personal, allowing the viewer to concentrate on the true drama of the scene.
