Event Horizon TV series from Adam Wingard in development at Amazon

August 6, 2019 by Ricky Church

According to Variety, Amazon Studios and Paramount Television are set to adapt the 1997 sci-fi/horror film Event Horizon into a television series.

The original film followed a rescue crew out to salvage the Event Horizon, a spaceship that went missing several years prior after testing an experimental gravity drive and has suddenly reappeared. The drive was able to create black holes capable of allowing ships to travel far into the universe almost instantaneously. What the rescue team and the Event Horizon’s designer discover, though, is a malevolent sentience onboard the ship after it traveled to a terrible and frightening dimension.

Adam Wingard (Godzilla vs. Kong) will executive produce and direct the series. Acting as executive producers alongside Wingard are Jeremy Platt and Event Horizon‘s original producers Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin.

The original film starred Laurence Fishburne (Ant-Man & The Wasp) Sam Neill (The Commuter) and Joely Richardson (Red Sparrow) with Paul W.S. Anderson (Resident Evil: The Final Chapter) directing.
