Marvel’s Black Widow casts world’s tallest bodybuilder Olivier Richters, a.k.a. The Dutch Giant

August 17, 2019 by Gary Collinson

As filming continues on Marvel’s Black Widow, bodybuilder turned actor Olivier Richters has revealed that he’s just finished shooting a role in the Phase Four-launching spy superhero adventure.

“I can finally tell you guys,” wroter Richters, a.k.a. The Dutch Giant (an appropriate moniker given that he’s 7 foot 2 inches in height – making him the world’s tallest bodybuilder). “For the last three weeks, I have been in the UK filming my part for the movie: Black Widow. This year in January, for the first time in my life I started to join castings for movies, who would have thought that I got to start with The King’s Man, then off to Gangs of London (HBO) and now Black Widow (Marvel). If someone in 2018 told me my career in the movie industry would start like this, I would have called an ambulance for him.”

There’s no word on who Richters could be playing, but the smart money would surely be on some kind of henchman role. Whatever the part, given his imposing frame and physique, he’s likely to make quite the impression – especially if he gets a fight scene with Scarlett Johansson, who’d be giving away almost two feet in height.

Black Widow is being directed by Cate Shortland (Lore) and sees Scarlett Johansson reprising her role as Natasha Romanoff alongside Florence Pugh (Fighting With My Family) as Yelena Belova, O-T Fagbenle (The Handmaid’s Tale) as Mason, David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Rachel Weisz (The Favourite) as Melina Vostokoff/Iron Maiden, and Ray Winstone (Sexy Beast) and Olivier Richters (The King’s Man) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
