Gal Gadot, Ben Affleck and Zack Snyder join calls to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut of Justice League

November 18, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Over the past couple of weeks, both Jason Momoa (Aquaman) and Ray Fisher (Cyborg) have joined calls for Warner Bros. to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut of Justice League, and now on the second anniversary of the DC film’s release, their co-stars Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) and Ben Affleck (Batman) have thrown their weight behind the fan campaign, as has director Zack Snyder himself!

#ReleaseTheSnyderCut is a fan campaign lobbying Warner Bros. to release Zack Snyder’s original version of Justice League, prior to his exit from the project after he stepped down due to the death of his daughter. Avengers director Joss Whedon was appointed as his successor by the studio, overseeing extensive reshoots and re-editing to craft the version released into cinemas back in 2017, which was met with a mixed reception by fans and disappointed at the box office.

Despite the growing support for the campaign, THR cites “insiders” who claim that despite recent speculation, Warner Bros. has no plans to announce a release of The Snyder Cut, either theatrically or as part of its HBO Max streaming service catalogue.

Justice League features Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta and Robin Wright as General Antiope, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Amber Heard as Mera and Ciaran Hinds as Steppenwolf.
