Military survival game GearStorm out now on Steam Early Access

November 23, 2019 by Andrew Newton

Indie developer Iron City Games’ military simulator and sandbox-style survival game, GearStorm, is now available on Steam Early Access and ready to test players survival skills on a procedurally generated alien world.  Check out the trailer below…

GearStorm takes players to the year 2185, and a galaxy where the last remnants of humankind have retreated into bunkers and fortresses to avoid the dangers of a wasted, biological plague ridden Earth.  The only hope humanity has left is the discovery of a possible habitable extraterrestrial world where probes have detected signs of ecosystems, flora, and fauna.  Several attempts to reach this alien world were met with disaster so, as a final act, small unmanned probes equipped with bio-printers and encoded with the DNA and mental recordings of Earth’s finest were launched to seed Apollyon and save the species.

As one of these bio-printed fabricants players will build and fortify a Forward Operating Bases, mine for resources, and to the best of their ability destroy anyone and anything that threatens the future of humanity.

This survival game features:

  • Intense military sci-fi gameplay in first or third-person.
  • Terraform the environment.
  • Explore, resource manage and craft to survive.
  • Build an elaborate base and manage a colony.
  • Explore an alien planet and build up your character by completing quests.
  • Join up with friends to complete the multiplayer campaign or create your own quests.

“I’ve modded games in the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series since the early 2000s. I was lucky – and my mods were rather well received for a good while. Creating stories and experiences for other players was really rewarding and incredibly enjoyable. That’s one of the reasons I’m passionate about GearStorm. It has tons of characters and quests – and the modding tools are incorporated right into the game. GearStorm gives the power to create to ALL players – not just an elite few.” – Brian Rivers, Co-Founder & President, Iron City Games.

“Brian’s exploits as a top modder made it clear that we could do one better and make an actual game. GearStorm puts everything we love about games together in one neat package: a massive planet with alien flora and fauna, a game-changing in-game quest authoring system, beautiful Unreal 4 graphics, and tons of gameplay variety with FPS, RPG and even sandbox/survival mechanics in both single and multiplayer. We spent five years working on GearStorm and are thrilled to finally share it with gamers everywhere.” – – Shawn Ellis, Co-Founder & CEO, Iron City Games.

GearStorm is available now on Steam Early Access.
