Rumour: Sony developing Silver & Black TV show

January 20, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Having given up on its efforts to produce a Silver & Black movie in favour of potential solo movies for its two femme fatales, a new rumour claims that Sony is now looking to dust off the Silver Sable and Black Cat team-up, albeit as a television project.

According to FandomWire, Silver & Black is one of the numerous Spider-Man-related TV shows that Sony has in development as the studio looks to capitalise on its Marvel property. The report is light on details, and there’s no word as to whether any of the talent involved with developing the movie (i.e. director Gina Prince-Bythewood and writers Lisa Joy, Chris Yost, Lindsey Beer and Geneva Roberston-Dworet) are on board the series in any capacity.

Back in 2018, Sony brought Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller to oversee development on a slate of Spider-Verse TV shows, with studio chairman Tony Vinciquerra revealing last year that there are “five or six” series in the pipeline. Whether this does include a Silver & Black series, we shall have to wait for further confirmation, but it certainly seems a no brainer that Sony will be looking to make use of two of the best-known female characters in the Spidey library.
