Adam Sandler extends his Netflix deal for four more movies

February 1, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Coinciding with the arrival of the critically acclaimed Uncut Gems on Netflix, the streaming service has announced that it has extended its deal with Adam Sandler and Happy Madison Productions for a further four original feature films.

“Whether you know him as Sandman, the Water Boy, Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Nick Spitz or simply Adam, one thing is clear: our members can’t get enough of him,” said Ted Sarandos, Netflix Chief Content Officer. “They love his stories and his humor, as we saw with Murder Mystery. So I could not be more excited to extend our partnership with Adam and the Happy Madison team and deliver more laughs around the world.”

According to the official press release, Netflix subscribers have amassed over 2 billion hours watching Sander’s movies since he first teamed with the streamer on 2015’s The Ridiculous Six. His latest, Murder Mystery, which reunited Sandler with his Just Go With It co-star Jennifer Aniston, smashed records for the streaming service, with 83 million accounts viewing the movie in its first week of release.

Next up from Sandler and Netflix is Hubie Halloween, which is set to arrive later this year and sees the actor starring alongside the likes of Kevin James, Julie Bowen, Maya Rudolph, Ray Liotta, Steve Buscemi, Rob Schneider, Michael Chiklis, and Kenan Thompson.
