Harley Quinn season 2 casts Alfred Molina and Sanaa Lathan as Mr. Freeze and Catwoman

February 26, 2020 by Ricky Church

With the second season of the adult animated series Harley Quinn set to debut in April, DC Daily on the DC Universe app revealed the series has cast Alfred Molina (The Front Runner) and Sanaa Lathan (The Affair) as Mr. Freeze and Catwoman respectively.

Mr. Freeze was well-respected scientist Victor Fries who was obsessed with creating a cure for his wife’s incurable disease, placing her in cryogenic freezing until he did so. When Fries’ boss tried to stop his tests, a lab accident caused Fries to live only in sub-zero temperatures and a special suit and turns his anger on the people who wronged him as he still tries to save his wife.

Catwoman is, of course, one of Batman’s oldest foes with an on/off romance with the Dark Knight. She’s something of an anti-hero herself as the people she robs from, in her view, have it coming. In the comics she, Harley and Poison Ivy were a team called the Gotham City Sirens. Perhaps we’ll see their team form up in the second season.

The adult animated comedy series, HARLEY QUINN, follows Harley’s adventures, where alongside ragtag crew of DC castoffs, she tries to earn a seat at the biggest table in villainy: the Legion of the Doom.

Harley Quinn features a voice cast that includes Kaley Cuoco as Harley, Lake Bell as Poison Ivy, Diedrich Bader as Batman, Jacob Tramblay as Robin, Rahul Kohli as Scarecrow, Alan Tudyk as The Joker, Jim Rash as The Riddler, Christopher Meloni as Commissioner Gordon, Sanaa Lathan as Catwoman, Tony Hale as Doctor Psycho, Ron Funches as King Shark, J.B. Smoove as Frank the Plant, Wanda Sykes as the Queen of Fables, Vanessa Marshall as Wonder Woman, James Wolk as Superman, Jacob Tremblay as Damian Wayne, Alfred Molina as Mr. Freeze, Briana Cuoco as Batgirl and Giancarlo Esposito as Lex Luthor.
