Jason Statham and Kevin Hart to team for action comedy The Man From Toronto

February 3, 2020 by Gary Collinson

After briefly sharing the screen in last year’s Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, Jason Statham (The Meg) and Kevin Hart (Jumanji: The Next Level) are now set to team up for The Man From Toronto, an action comedy set up at Sony Pictures.

Patrick Hughes (The Expendables 3, The Hitman’s Bodyguard) is set to direct the film, which revolves around a case of mistaken identity and follows the world’s deadliest assassin, the Man from Toronto, an a New York City screw-up who run into each other at an Airbnb and find themselves clashing with deadly killers.

Sony is said to be hoping to replicate the vibe (and box office success) of Statham’s Hobbs & Shaw and Hart’s Central Intelligence with the new film, and as such it is seen as a top priority at the studio, with release date already in place for November 20th of this year.

Filming on The Man From Toronto is set to begin in March once Hughes finishes work on Lionsgate’s action comedy sequel The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, which is itself slated to open in August.
