See the new Captain America in action in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier set video

March 4, 2020 by Gary Collinson

A new Captain America is set to make their debut in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but rather than Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson, the honour is set to fall to Wyatt Russell’s John Walker (a.k.a. U.S. Agent/Super-Patriot).

In the comic books, Walker is chosen by the U.S. government to replace Steve Rogers after he gives up the role of Captain America, and – as we’ve glimpsed in the Super Bowl TV spot – it looks like a similar scenario is going to play out in the MCU series. And, thanks to a set video doing the rounds on social media, we’ve got our first look at the new “Cap” in action as he battled a group of thugs; check it out in the embed below…

Meanwhile, in other (potential) news from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, The Weekly Planet Podcast is suggesting that the series will see the return of Captain America: The Winter Soldier villain Batroc the Leaper, with MMA star Georges St-Pierre reprising his role from the 2014 sequel.

Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is set to premiere on Disney+ in August and features a cast that includes MCU veterans Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Emily VanCamp (Sharon Carter), Daniel Bruhl (Zemo) and new additions Wyatt Russell (Overlord), Carl Lumbly (Doctor Sleep), Adepero Oduye (The Big Short), Desmond Chiam (Now Apocalypse), Miki Ishikawa (The Terror: Infamy) and Noah Mills (The Brave).
