Earlier this year, Disney acquired the theatrical rights to the award-winning Hamilton and set forward plans to release the already-filmed version of the musical in 2021. Only recently was it revealed that Disney would instead release the special event on the Disney+ streaming service this July, and now as part of the 2020 ESPYs, a sports award show held by ESPN, the official trailer for the filmed version of the hit Broadway musical made its debut. With book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and direction by Thomas Kail, Hamilton is inspired by the book “Alexander Hamilton” by Ron Chernow and produced by Thomas Kail, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Jeffrey Seller, with Sander Jacobs and Jill Furman serving as executive producers. Filming was produced by RadicalMedia.
