Fleet Carriers update arrives in orbit for Elite Dangerous

June 9, 2020 by Andrew Newton

Today sees the arrival of the Fleet Carriers Update for Elite Dangerous on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.  These new vessels will bring all kinds of exciting possibilities for Elite Dangerous Commanders, providing they have built up the necessary funds to purchase one of these behemoth vessels.  See more of these new space craft in the trailer below….

Fleet Carriers provide whole new opportunities for deep-space exploration and long-range travel and provide a home for commanders no matter where they are in the galaxy.  These vessels have a whopping 500 light year jump range and run on the recently discovered element Tritium, and have the ability to top up their fuel reserves by mining ice asteroids.

Carriers have 16 landing pads that will allow players to set out into the furthest reaches of space with a whole squadron of commanders.  These pads provide spaces for eight large ships, four medium ships, and four small ships. It is entirely up to the owner of the vessel who to let land on the carrier so there’s no need to worry about unwanted guests or stowaways.

Commanders are also able to make money from their new vessel.  Tariffs for visitors using the carrier’s services will b paid into the Fleet Carrier’s bank and players can withdraw these funds at any time.

A ship as large as these requires a crew and one will need to be employed to keep the ship in good order. A Deck Officer will be responsible for maintenance, navigation, weaponry and the daily running. Other services added to the ship will also correspond to a Head Crew Member.

Fleet Carriers are powerful and versatile vessels and are available now on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
