Vivica A. Fox to star in Night of the Living Dead remake

November 3, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Because there haven’t been enough already, George A. Romero’s seminal zombie classic Night of the Living Dead is set for another remake, with Bloody Disgusting reporting that Vivica A. Fox (Kill Bill) is set to star in a new version of the 1968 horror. Check out the AFM sales art here…

The new film is being produced by CineTel Films, the production company behind new I Spit on Your Grave and Amityville Horror movies, and has Christopher Ray (Circus Kane) on board to direct. Fox will take on the lead role, a gender-swapped version of Ben, played by Duane Jones in Romero’s original. The official synopsis reads:

“Amidst a worldwide event where the dead awake and roam the earth as zombies, a small group of human survivors struggle to stay alive and fight off the wandering zombies who are intent on eating them and turning them into the Walking Dead.”

Given its public domain status, there have already been several remakes of Night of the Living Dead, most notably in 1990 which was written by Romero and directed by make-up and prosthetics guru Tom Savini.
