Lucasfilm announces new Star Wars: The High Republic story featuring a “force-sensitive monster hunter”

December 9, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Lucasfilm has annouced a new story in their Star Wars: The High Republic publishing initiative. A novel called The Rising Storm.

The High Republic era of the Star Wars galaxy is about to get underway next month with the novel Light of the Jedi. There are other publishing efforts underway in 2021, however, with one of them being the newly announced novel The Rising Storm.

The Rising Storm is written by Cavan Scott and will be available from the 6th July 2021. The story will pick up after Light of the Jedi and other High Republic stories and will expand upon the main enemies of the era, the Nihil.

Speaking to StarWars.com, Scott said: “Writing a Star Wars novel is always an honor, and this has been no different. It’s a responsibility I never take lightly, especially while opening up a new era in Star Wars storytelling such as the High Republic.

“The Rising Storm sees the Nihil taking their reign of terror to the next level, building on their appearances in Light of the Jedi and beyond. Standing in their way this time are newly elevated Jedi Council member Stellan Gios, along with Padawan Bell Zettifar and an intriguing new character, the saber-for-hire Ty Yorrick who I’ve had a blast creating.

“Yorrick is a Force-sensitive monster hunter with a mysterious past. What is that past? Well, that would be telling. All I’d say is that you don’t want to get in her way, as Stellan and the others soon realize for themselves.”

It sounds like a pretty cool story with some interesting new characters. Hopefully, The High Republic will be a fun new era for fans to explore and leads to plenty more stories being told in the years ahead.
