Mark Hamill thanks The Mandalorian creators for Luke Skywalker appearance

December 31, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Mark Hamill – Luke Skywalker himself – has taken to social media to thank the creators of The Mandalorian for the special moment of season two’s finale.

The season two finale of The Mandalorian was a massive one, full of emotion, tension, big story moments and a truly exciting surprise which saw a prime Luke Skywalker, played by a de-aged Mark Hamill, return to rescue Grogu.

Creator and writers of the show Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have received a lot of praise for The Mandalorian so far and Hamill has joined in to give his personal thanks to the pair. Posting a screenshot from the episode of Luke with his iconic green lightsaber ignited, Hamill said:

“Sometimes the greatest gifts are the most unexpected and something you never realized you wanted until it was given. #ThankYouJonAndDave 🙏”

Luke’s return was truly epic and showcased the Jedi Master at the peak of his powers. His cameo appearance was an emotional one for many fans and it’s clear that it meant a lot to Hamill as well. Hopefully, we get to see more of Luke and Grogu together sooner rather than later.

The Mandalorian season two sees the returning Pedro Pascal (Din Djarin), Gina Carano (Cara Dune), Carl Weathers (Greef Karga), Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon), Bill Burr (Mayfield), and Ming-Na Wen (Fennec Shand) joined by the likes of Temuera Morrison (Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones), Katee Sackhoff (Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Timothy Olyphant (Justified), Michael Biehn (The Terminator), Rosario Dawson (Daredevil), and WWE Superstar Sasha Banks.
