Patty Jenkins says Star Wars: Rogue Squadron is already quite far into development

December 16, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins has provided an update on the newly-announced movie Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, stating that development is already quite far along and we will learn about the screenwriter in a separate announcement.

Last week was a massive one for Star Wars fans. We got word that a handful of new Star Wars shows are on the way and that Patty Jenkins is directing a movie called Star Wars: Rogue Squadron.

Rogue Squadron will be the first Star Wars movie in four years when it arrives in December 2023 and development is going well as Jenkins reveals the treatment is nearly complete. Speaking to Collider, he filmmaker said:

“We’re very far into the — we’re finishing the treatment basically, which is pretty big. So it ends up being like where you’re fairly close to a well-along screenplay by the time I’m done with the treatment in my process. So yeah, we’ve been working on it for a while. It’s going great. I’m super excited about it. I’m super excited about the story.”

Regarding who is writing the script, Jenkins didn’t say: “I want him to have his own proper announcement, so I’m going to wait until that comes out.”
