Tom Holland refused to wear a wig for Marvel’s Spider-Man 3

February 14, 2021 by Gary Collinson

Tom Holland has found himself rather busy coming out of lockdown, finishing production on Sony’s long-awaited Uncharted video game adaptation before donning his Spidey suit once more for the as-yet-untitled Spider-Man 3.

It appears that shooting the two projects back-to-back caused one issue for Marvel with regards to Holland’s Nathan Drake haircut, forcing the young star to put his foot down and refuse a request from the studio:

“My hair in Uncharted is much cooler,” Holland tells Esquire. “I have cool shaved sides and it’s slick at the back, and that’s not very Peter Parker. He’s a bit of a loser. So they put this wig on me that was just around the sides.”

“For the first time in my life, I put my foot down as the leading actor and was like, ‘I’m not fucking wearing that wig. You can just… I’m going to have shorter hair and you’re going to have to deal with it,’” Holland continued.

So it seems that Holland managed to avoid a potentially hairy situation. Let’s just hope this doesn’t end up leading to another Justice League / Mission: Impossible – Fallout scenario…

The Untitled Spider-Man Sequel is slated for release on December 17th 2021 and sees Jon Watts (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home) directing Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Zendaya (MJ), Marisa Tomei (Aunt May), Jacob Batalon (Ned Leeds), Tony Revolori (Flash Thompson), Jamie Foxx (Electro) and Alfred Molina (Doctor Octopus).
