Alpha phase for Elite Dangerous: Odyssey begins at the end of the month, new gameplay trailer released

March 4, 2021 by Andrew Newton

Frontier Developments has announced that the PC Alpha for the highly anticipated Elite Dangerous: Odyssey game expansion will begin on the 29th March.  After having a small delay due to the current situation in the world, PC gamers will be able to start setting foot on alien worlds very soon.  A new gameplay trailer can be seen below featuring a raid mission of a military outpost.

In this new gameplay video three commanders can be seen tackling a raid of a military outpost with the objective of disabling the outpost’s power centre.  All three of these commanders are specially equipped with a wide range of equipment ranging from space suits and weapons to gear that helps avoid being detected, hacking equipment or help with extraction.

For the very first time, players will be able to leave the stale, recycled oxygen of the cockpit and set foot on the many alien worlds that await in the vastness of space. Customise your commander with different specialised suits and gear options before leaving the relative safety of your vessel and be prepared for whatever adventure awaits. Though being able to set foot on alien worlds is not the end of the iconic cockpit experience, instead there will be new missions to tackle and intense tactical combat to take part in.  If things get too hot to handle then there’s always the option to get back in your ship and escape.

The Alpha for Elite Dangerous: Odyssey begins on 29th March and will arrive fully in late spring. Commanders on Xbox One and PS4 will have to wait until Autumn to touchdown.
