Batman: The Long Halloween cast revealed with Jensen Ackles as Batman and Naya Rivera as Catwoman

March 31, 2021 by Ricky Church

One of the most well-regarded Batman stories will be getting its animated adaptation soon with the two-part Batman: The Long Halloween and The Hollywood Reporter has revealed the voice cast for the anticipated films. Jensen Ackles (Supernatural) will star as Batman with the late Naya Rivera (Glee) as Catwoman.

Batman: The Long Halloween was written by Jeph Loeb and drawn by Tim Sale and first published as a 13-issue series from 1996 – 1997. Taking place early in Batman’s career, he is investigating a killer known only as Holiday after they murder a members of Gotham City’s mob on each holiday of the month. With his allies Lieutenant Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, they try to uncover the identity of Holiday while battling Gotham’s mob and the growing number of Batman’s costumed rogues gallery, all the while Harvey Dent is on the path for a transformation himself.

Ackles previously played Jason Todd/Red Hood in the 2010 animated film Batman: Under The Red Hood and recently finished a 15-year role as Dean Winchester in Supernatural. Rivera, who passed away last year in a tragic boating accident, had already completed her voice work for both parts of The Long Halloween adaptation.

Joining Ackles and Rivera in the film are Josh Duhamel (Transformers) as Harvey Dent, Billy Burke (Most Dangerous Game) as James Gordon, Titus Welliver (Bosch) as Carmine Falcone, David Dastmalchiann (The Suicide Squad) as Calendar Man, Troy Baker (Batman: Arkham Origins) as Joker, Amy Landecker (Your Honor) as Barbara Gordon, Julie Nathanson (Elena of Avalor) as Gilda Dent, Jack Quaid (Star Trek: Lower Decks) as Alberto, Fred Tatasciore (Devil May Care) as Solomon Grundy and Alastair Duncan (Spider-Man) as Alfred. Also featuring are Frances Callier, Greg Chun, Gary Leroi Gray and Jim Pirri.

Batman: The Long Halloween comes from a script by Tim Sheridan (Superman: Man of Tomorrow) with Chris Palmer (Superman: Man of Tomorrow) directing. Jim Krieg and Kimberly S. Moreau are producing with Butch Lukic as the supervising producer. Michael Uslan and Sam Register are executive producing.

Batman: The Long Halloween Part 1 will be released sometime this summer with Part 2 released in the fall.
