The Russo Brothers directed the brand new Fortnite introduction

March 17, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

Epic Games has just unveiled the latest version of their phenomenally successful online battle-royal game with the release of Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6: Primal, which turns the colorful island into a wild prehistoric world filled with dangerous creatures, and it has just been announced that the cinematic intro was created by none other than Avengers: Endgame directors The Russo Brothers.

Not content with shepherding Cherry onto Apple TV+ (read our review ★★★ here), or starting production on their Netflix thriller The Gray Man, Variety has exclusively reported that the busy brothers, who are self-proclaimed fans of Fortnite, directed the three minute prologue, which you can watch here…

Epic in every sense of the word, the three minutes actually feels a little like Avengers: Endgame, what with appearances from many of the game’s recognisible skins, such as Linda Hamilton’s Sarah Connor, Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley, Street Fighter’s Ryu, xenomorphs and endoskeletons, and let’s not forget Peely, as they all get in the way of Fortnite’s Agent Jones as he attempts to stop the core from exploding.

Anthony and Joe Russo said in a statement sent to Variety that “It’s been fantastic working with the team at Epic. Fortnite holds a unique place in pop culture, and we think Donald Mustard [Epic’s chief creative officer] is a visionary storyteller who continues to take us all into unexplored territory.”
