Saw 10 already in development ahead of Spiral: From the Book of Saw

April 9, 2021 by Liam Waddington

Despite the ninth instalment of the Saw franchise, titled Spiral: From the Book of Saw, not debuting until 14th May, it is being reported that Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures have already started development on the next instalment.

In their latest issue, Production Weekly (via Bloody Disgusting) has listed SAW X as being in active development – which was later confirmed by the news outlet. It was initially reported that James Wan‘s production company Atomic Monster was listed as one of the film’s producers, which would mean Wan would return to help develop the tenth film in the franchise, after making his directorial debut on the first Saw film in 2004. However, this has been debunked by the outlet and Atomic Monster’s listing was made in error.

As of reporting this, there are no additional details on the project including the creative team, casting details or whether or not the tenth film will connect to the upcoming instalment. Spiral: From the Book of Saw is written by Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfinger, who also wrote the last instalment, 2017’s Jigsaw, with Darren Lynn Bousman returning to direct the film having previously directed Saw II, Saw III, and Saw IV.

A sadistic mastermind unleashes a twisted form of justice in SPIRAL, the terrifying new chapter from the book of SAW. Working in the shadow of an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.

Spiral: From the Book of Saw stars Chris Rock, Samuel L. Jackson, Max Minghella, and Marisol Nichols, with Darren Lynn Bousman returning to the world of Jigsaw for the ninth instalment.
