Aaron Taylor-Johnson set to star as Marvel’s Kraven The Hunter in solo movie at Sony

May 27, 2021 by EJ Moreno

Kraven The Hunter is finally making his way to the big screen, though this version of the character won’t be facing off with his comic-book adversary, Spider-Man. Today, we’ve learned that Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been cast in the role of Kraven The Hunter and will star in his own solo film.

Triple Frontier director  J.C. Chandor will helm the film. Art Marcum & Matt Holloway and Richard Wenk wrote the screenplay, while Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson is known for his starring role in the likes of Kick-Ass and 2014’s Godzilla. He’s also appeared in Tenet, Nocturnal Animals, and Anna Karenina. Taylor-Johnson has already appeared in one Marvel project before, playing Pietro Maximoff in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

With the film housed under the ‘Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters’ banner, it likely means the character won’t interact with the MCU’s Spider-Man. However, Kraven could still face off with Sony’s in-house characters like Venom (Tom Hardy) and Morbius (Jared Leto), both of whom have new films coming soon. Only time will tell, though, and for now, Kraven is hunting on his own.

Kraven the Hunter will be released on January 13th 2023.
