Danai Gurira returning for Black Panther 2 and upcoming Wakanda spin-off series

May 28, 2021 by EJ Moreno

For many, the Dora Milaje is a massive part of what makes the Black Panther universe excellent. Even the appearance of Ayo in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier saw much fanfare online, and now it seems we have confirmation that Dora Milaje general and fan-favourite Okoye will return for more ass-kicking.

During a recent article from The Hollywood Reporter focusing on Hollywood attorneys, news broke about many major deals happening in Hollywood right now, and once such deal was Danai Gurira closing a deal with Marvel Studios to reprise her role as Okoye for two new projects.

The THR report indicates that Gurira will return for the upcoming 2022 film, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The same article notes that the former The Walking Dead actress will also star in an upcoming Disney+ series based in Wakanda, which is presumably the same project announced back in February when director Ryan Coogler signed a five-year overall TV deal with Disney.

Danai Gurira’s presence in the MCU going forward will surely come as a much-needed smile for many Black Panther fans right now.
