Chris Hemsworth reveals that Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder has wrapped production

June 2, 2021 by Ricky Church

Marvel’s very own God of Thunder Chris Hemsworth has announced that Thor: Love and Thunder has wrapped production. The anticipated film sees Hemsworth reprise his role as Thor alongside the return of Thor veterans Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif and Taika Waititi both in the director’s chair and as Korg.

The photo Hemsworth revealed with his comments on the film’s production wrap shows Waititi in his mo-cap gear as Korg while Hemsworth celebrates “national don’t flex day”, showing Thor has bounced back physically from the beer gut he developed in Avengers: Endgame.

“That’s a wrap on Thor Love and Thunder,” Hemsworth said. “It’s also national don’t flex day so I thought this super relaxed photo was appropriate. The film is gonna be batshit crazy off the wall funny and might also pull a heart string or two. Lots of love, lots of thunder! Thank you to all the cast and crew who made this another incredible Marvel journey. Buckle in, get ready and see ya in cinemas!”

While plot details remain vague for the film, it will pick up with Thor travelling across the galaxy with the Guardians of the Galaxy following Thor’s decision in Endgame to join their team. Waititi and Portman have also teased it will be inspired by Jason Aaron’s run on Thor where Jane Foster gains the powers of Thor after she is deemed worthy to wield Mjolnir.

Directed by Thor: Ragnarok helmer Taika Waititi, who also reprises his on-screen role as Korg, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax), Sean Gunn (Kraglin), Russell Crowe (Unhinged) as Zeus and Christian Bale (Ford v Ferrari) as Gorr the God Butcher.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set for a May 6th, 2022 release.
