Get ready to build mushroom castles in Grounded’s Shroom & Doom update

June 14, 2021 by Andrew Newton

There’s big things coming in the next update to Obsidian’s Grounded.  Titled Shroom & Doom, this update will allow players to build structures out of a new resource, have some creature comforts at home, take on an all new epic beastie and much more.  The new update will arrive on 30th June but in the meantime, enjoy the delights of what’s to come in the trailer below but be warned – there are spiders.

Mushrooms now become a new building resource and can be made into bricks which can be used to build structures however you want.  In the new trailer we can see a castle in the process of being finished which looks to be an excellent defence against all the creepy crawlies that like to attack us while we craft or chill out.  There will also be the opportunity to sit down in the comfort of our castles which is something I’ll more than likely never do myself but has apparently been a very much requested feature.

So, you’ve built your mushroom home and sitting inside with your feet up, all that’s missing is a pet.  Not anymore, pets are going to be a welcome companion in the undergrowth and a nice little extra to have around the house when you’re playing on your own.

Less welcoming than pets is the addition of the Brood Mother, a huge spider that dwarfs the others in the game and much bigger than the player.  Arachnophobics will definitely want to turn on the Arachnophobia Safe Mode if they intend to seek out this monster.

Look out for the Shroom & Doom update arriving on Grounded on 30th June.
