Taika Waititi says Thor: Love and Thunder is “funnier” than Ragnarok

Not only has director Taika Waititi teased the new look of Chris Hemsworth for the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, but now the filmmaker is exciting fans by discussing the film’s comedy.


In a recent interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, the filmmaker opened up about life, working in Sydney, Australia, and his upcoming second time helming a Marvel film. When asked about his cast for Thor: Love and Thunder, Waititi gushed about its all-star line-up.

“It’s quite amazing, just the amount of people that we’ve got,” said Waititi. “I kept looking around, or just looking back over the shoot, and thinking, “Oh my god…”

He exclaims that this new entry might even out-do his last outing Thor: Ragnarok, which was met with much acclaim and $854 million at the worldwide box office. “I think this might be funnier. Everything we did with Ragnarok, we’ve just multiplied it.”

He continues, “Who knows if we do another one after this, but I definitely feel like we put everything – every idea and every single ridiculous concept or gag or stunt or character – into this film. I couldn’t be happier with it.”

Directed by Thor: Ragnarok helmer Taika Waititi, who also reprises his on-screen role as Korg, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax), Sean Gunn (Kraglin), Russell Crowe (Unhinged) as Zeus and Christian Bale (Ford v Ferrari) as Gorr the God Butcher.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set for a May 6th, 2022 release.
